TIGER Education & Faculty Development Collaborative
Working together using this wiki
This wiki is a shared online whiteboard that allows the entire group to easily share information to each other and other TIGER collaborative team members. The material on the wiki should be considered to be in draft format and will be published on the TIGER website at www.tigersummit.com upon completion.
Activities of the Other Specialties Work Group
- Identify any faculty development resources available to help with integration of informatics into the nursing curriculum. Many faculty were educated prior to the emergence of nursing informatics. If we want to insure that our future and current nurses are prepared to practice in the 21st century practice environment, we need to provide development opportunities for faculty.
- Investigate specific areas for initiatives, programs and other resources to help faculty. Some groups will be asked to examine the work of other organizations, such as specialty organizations and nursing education professional organizations.
- We're working on identifying initiatives, programs, and resources found in other specialty organizations.

*Pam is looking for materials available from the American Dietetic Association. So far I've found very little. There is no specific informatics competency for dietetics education other than a vague reference to using technology. Many interpret this as using office programs. I'm attaching one syllabus sent to me by a dietetics educator. I also teach an "advanced technology" course and will attach that syllabus once I update it!
I have sent requests to faculty and deans at many of the colleges that offer healthcare management and administration degrees. To date I have received no replies. The C suite execs at my facility received little or no formal informatics training. Lisa R.
*I've sent out more requests for resources that dietetics educators have for faculty development. I've gotten very few responses, and those seem to indicate that they rely on nursing for help! Pam
